Passion Projects

This week we have been working on Passion Projects, I am in the Community Sports group. My group and I are working on Sports fundraising.  This is what we have.

• Basketball tournament donates a can of food and gives the can of food to charity.   
• Basketball tournament donates clothes that are too big or small for you.
• Basketball tournament donates money to play the tournament. $1.50 to enter
• Do a sprint to donate stuff to your favourite charity.

Here is a list of expectations that you should follow.

• Sit on the floor instead of a table
• Take off your shoes in the whare
• To make it tidy, eat outside the whare
• Laying down on a mattress is better than standing or jumping
• Be responsible for your belongings and keep your area tidy
• Respect the elders
• Walk around people to try avoiding walking over their legs
• If someone asks to save a seat, give it to someone else
• Wash your hands after you leave a cemetery
• Say grace before eating
• Instead of passing food over someone’s head, stand up and give it to the person
• When your in the whare walk

The proper name for whare is called wharenui, people just say whare for short.

A powhiri is a welcoming ceremony where people talk, dance, sing and at the end they're is a hongi.

Made Up Story

One day I was playing a video game called Black Ops 3, as I was playing I heard someone knock on the door. I was confused but I opened it anyway, it was three NRL players. I was so excited to see them, their names were Gideon Gela Mosby, Josh Addo Carr and Kalyn Ponga. I asked them to come in, I then asked them what they wanted. Josh said to me “ We need you to come with us”. I said to him “Why”. Josh said “ It’s a surprise”. I said “ Ok”. So we all hopped into Kalyn’s Lambo. They were driving as fast as a cheetah sprinting for its prey. Finally we stopped outside Lesley Park and I saw Robbie standing in the middle of the field.

They told me to follow them over to Robbie. When we got to Robbie he pulled out a gun, first we were scared but then I realised that I had a Uzi inside my Jacket. He said I want your money, I pretended to pull out my wallet and pulled out the Uzi. I started spraying the bullets at him and he fell on the ground, the cops came and I got arrested. I was asleep in my cell when Robbie Jumped onto the cage like a monkey. He said that if he bailed me out I would owe him $2.59 cents.

I agreed so he bailed me out and took me to my house to get the money but when I went to get the money I found out that I only had $2.58 cents. I told him but he was angry so he ran out to his car and grabbed his AK47, I grabbed my Golden Scar and started shooting, we both missed each other and then I ran to the back room where he couldn’t see me, I jumped out the window and sprinted to Mega Air.

I payed for it with my mum’s money and then started jumping on the tramps. I found a mini tramp and jumped on it and went to land on the pad, I landed on the pad but I couldn’t finish the flip. I had fallen on my neck, at that moment I knew that I had broken my neck and my arm.

When I got to the hospital they put me onto a bed and left me there, It took for ages until I finally got to leave the hospital. I walked out of the hospital and then I see Robbie in front of me, he walked over to me and said “ I will drive you home so that we can play Black Ops 3 together”.

Dear Mr Hilliard

I am writing to let you know how I feel about the new gym. I like it because it has ping pong tables to play ping pong and it is a big space for everyone to play in. It’s a big enough space for at least two classes. The gym is is very spacious and bright with colours.

I like the colours of the gym and the changing rooms because of how flash they are. They are always clean and still in new condition. If they were messy then no one would go in them and appreciate what we have. The gym is tidy, like the changing rooms, the actual gym and the area where we play ping pong is comfortable and an idea place to hang out.

I also like how the new gym has different seating areas. For example, there are stairs that we can sit on when we are taking the role for P.E. There is also the floor in the new gym, that is laid down with new carpet .

I have one suggestion and that is maybe we could get basketball hoops installed because there are only netball hoops. There are a lot of basketball tournaments going on in the past few terms. You can’t really use netball hoops for basketball practises and basketball games.

I would also like to suggest that we would be allowed to use the gym more often at morning tea and lunch. Boy like myself have a lot of energy to burn and we would like to use this energy in playing something we enjoy like basketball.

Overall, I think that the gym is awesome because it it colourful, comfortable and humongous and I think my small suggestions will only improve our gym for years to come.

This is my writing, hope you enjoy.

How is NRL played?

First teams are on 2 sides

Toss a coin to decide who goes first

Usually full back half back or hooker starts

you have to start with a kick off, it must be off the tee

The team that kicked the other players rush off

The opposite team starts to defend

Next the team getting the ball starts a set of six.

If you drop the ball the other team gets the ball

If you throw a forward pass the other team gets it

Then there are these things called penalties

Penalties are things that you or the other team get if something bad happens

For example if you do a high tackle that’s a penalty

If you shoulder charge that’s a penalty

If you punch it’s a penalty, maybe even a yellow card or red card

What is your favourite NRL Team?

To play NRL you have to get two teams and put them on two sides. After that you do a coin toss, whoever wins gets to pick whether you receive or kick off. When you have done the coin toss the team that receives gets into position while the other team setup to kick off.

They kick off and the other team starts a set of six. If you drop the ball the other team gets it, if you throw a forward pass the other team gets it. If both teams drop the ball then the team that dropped it second would feed the ball through the scrum.

If you do a high tackle or a shoulder charge then the team that had the ball get a penalty. If you get the ball then purposely run behind a player a that player takes someone out then that’s a penalty to the other team or if you punch or kick then that’s a penalty and maybe a yellow or red card.

If you score a try then that’s four points, if you get the kick it’s two points. If you get a penalty kick then that’s two points and if you get a field goal then that’s one points

Overall, NRL is quite simple to play so give it a try. This is my favourite sport because it’s fun and exciting.

What worked, what didn't and what would I change?

The drawing worked but the hands didn't really work and I would change nothing.

Science in the Lab

Today we were learning about stuff in science. One of the activities was wondering why the Police separate the witnesses at a crime or accident. This is my reason why I think that.

Lab Safety

Today we were learning about safety in Science with Mr Kane. One thing is when your doing an experiment put safety glasses on. Another thing is to put your bags under your desk and keep them there. Something else is when you have your Bunsen burner on, you need a mat underneath it. Never sit on the tables and don't spill chemicals.
