Challenging Top of the Team

Today we had a fun program. The program was called Top Team, there were two wet events and the rest were non wet. Before we started Top Team we had to get into groups to do the activities, my group was Kade, Mediana, Summer, Lily and I.


The first activity that my group done was the Conveyor Belt. For the Conveyor Belt you had to put one part on your head and the other part on the ground to stand on, I have to say the other group was pretty good. Our last two activities were the wet ones.


My favorite activity was the first wet one when you had to cover the holes so that the water wouldn't tip out and two people would go and fill the cone up so that they could tip water in the pipe, the game was called Burst pipe.


Overall, I think that Top Team was spectacular because we had a fun time and we got to do cool activities.

The other thing that we had to do for reading was to make a healthy lunches shopping list. This is my shopping list. Hope you enjoy.

    For Reading this week we had to had to make a healthy lunches poster because we believe that kids should have healthy lunches. It made me think " Yes kids should have healthy lunches" Hope you enjoy.

The Spectacular Stick

Spectacular Stick

Since the start of the term we have been learning about persuasive writing. This week we were trying to persuade people to buy a stick, I know you think it's goofy but hey it's worth a shot. I hope you like my writing and comment on it. I learn't about the things you need in a persuasive writing, for example you need an opinion, an ending statement and three reasons.

Are you looking for that final touch? That perfect gift or even a friend? Then buy this sticktastic, one of a kind stick. You can use it as Harry Potter's new wand, walking stick or a lightsabre. This stick is made out of 99% real wood with 1% brain power. Did you know that a stick can be a helpful tool, could save you and you can use them as chopsticks? They are three reasons that you should buy a sticktastic buddy.

Did you know that if you buy a stick then they can help you? They can help you if you're old because it can your walking stick. Another way that it can help you is because if you are in a comfortable position and you want to change the channel then you could pick up your stick and press the buttons. It can be your own channel changer.

Another reason why I think you should get a sticktastic buddy is because they can save you like a superhero going to kick butt. One way that a stick can save you is if you are in a battle it can pretend to be a lightsabre. Another way that it can save you is if you are old then it could save you from falling.

The last reason that you should buy this one of a kind stick is because you can use them as chopsticks. One way that you could use them as chopsticks is you get two sticks and them just pick your food up and it’s better to use sticks because, 1. It’s not plastic so it won’t break easily, 2. You won’t have to waste money and 3. They’re easier to hold. Imagine how you can eat sushi with them easier.

What are you waiting for, go get your stick from the closest forest and look after it because it will help you, save you and you can use them as chopsticks. No trees were harmed in the making of this stick.

Christmas Lights

After we had finished our three tasks we got to pick a game to play. I picked the christmas lights one because I thought that it looked challenging. The aim of the game is to get all of the lights up all at the same time, on the side it showed how many turns you've had. I had 75. This is the picture.

History about Christmas in USA

Today we had to pick a history topic. I picked history around the world and then we had to pick a country so I picked USA. One fact about Christmas in USA are there customs are similar to UK, France, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland and Mexico. he traditional meal for Western European families is turkey or ham with cranberry sauce. Families from Eastern European origins favour turkey with trimmings.

For reading we have been learning about Christmas and the Maori names to translate. This is the picture of the Maori names and the English names. The English is under Brief Description and the Maori is under Kupu.

For maths we have been learning about geometry. For geometry we had to go onto our senior syndicate learning site and find the place where you can make pictures like this. Change The Uniform

For writing we have been about persuasive writing and persuasive vocab. This is my writing about why we should not have school uniform.

Change The Uniform

Wearing a school uniform is a waste of money so we should get to pick our own clothes. If we pick our own clothes then we won’t have to go through all of the stress with finding a uniform.

Firstly, I think that we should pick our own clothes because there will be no stress with looking for a uniform, if you wear whatever you want then it will be easier to find clothes and you won’t get angry if you can’t find your uniform.m

Secondly, I think you should wear whatever you want is because it’s free to choose your own clothes and you can just pick anything out, also if you choose whatever you want then you could wear more layers to keep warm.

Lastly, I think that you should wear whatever you want is because you don’t have to waste money. If you wear whatever then no money will go down the drain, also it’s cheaper to buy normal clothes than uniform.

Overall I think that we should wear whatever we want because you don’t have to struggle looking for your uniform, you will be free to choose whatever and you won’t have to waste money.

Facts about the Sun, Earth and Moon

For Science we have been learning about how the Sun, Earth and Moon orbit in a system. I learnt that the sun spins slowly and gives light and warmth to it's planets, the earth spins around the sun taking 365 days, it also takes 24 hours to do one spin and it wobbles for seasons and the moon orbits the earth taking 27.5 days and it faces the same way.

The Protectful, Playful Pet

In writing we have been learning about Persuasive Writing.

We had to decide if Miss McLeod should get a cat or a dog for a pet.

We are learning about persuasive vocabulary and we had to highlight them in our work.

The Protectful Playful Pet

Did you know that dogs can be your private body guard?I think Miss Mcleod should get a dog because dogs can keep you safe. They can be entertaining, protectful and playful.

Firstly, I think that Miss Mcleod should get a dog because they are entertaining little fluffballs. They can be entertaining by running to you and they jump but they miss the couch. Another way that they could be entertaining is doing cool tricks. Some examples of them doing cool tricks could be them trying to jump through a hoop or open the door for you.

Secondly, I think that Miss Mcleod should buy a fluffy, goofy dog because they can be protectful like a superhero going to save the day. To be protectful they could warn you so that you can know that there is an intruder at your house. Another that they can protect you is that they could be your own tough, unbreakable, bone breaking body guard.

Lastly, I think Miss Mcleod should get a cute and fluffy dog because they can be playful. To play with them you could run around with their toy while they chase you to get it.  You can also play with them by when they are playing with their toy you could grab it and then drag it on the ground.

Overall, I think that Miss Mcleod should buy a dog because they can be entertaining, protect you and play with you.   

Go to your nearest pet and but one of these goofy, funny and protectful pets.  

Adopt a pet from the Pound

 Pets need your help to be safe. You could buy a pet from the pound and keep them safe. If you buy a pet you have to pay but they are cheap. Look at these pets no one cares about them so to make them feel better you can Adopt a pet from the pound

Calendar Art

This week we have been working on Calendar Art. We had to draw a circle then draw some patterns then we had to colour it in next we had to draw on the pencil lines with vivid and then get some black paper to glue it onto a white bit of paper. This is my Calendar Art. Hope you like it.

Questioning When Reading

This week in reading we have been continuing with our questioning. Questioning is a reading skill that helps us understand the text. We used questioning for the story Feet First. Feet First was about Karate. Some questions I had were How strong was Jzarahr, How long was their training session, Where was their dojo, Who was Lee and What was Kata. The questions that I could answer was Where was their dojo and Who was Lee. The questions that I couldn't answer were How strong was Jzarahr, How long was their training and What was Kata. These are the pictures of Jzarahr, Sa and my questions. The top one is my questions, the second one is Sa and the last one is Jzarahr.

Using our prior knowledge

For reading in the last two days we have been learning about Questioning. Questioning is when you ask a question from the text. Sometimes we can answer the questions when we read on. If we can't answer that we can use our prior knowledge to make a guess but if we can't use our prior knowledge then we research. The journal was about a person called Sam that was going to run a triathlon. Sam had just returned from the World Championships in Cancun, Mexico. He was at peak fitness for his training but he wanted to keep it up so he could stay at peak fitness. The triathlon that he was competing in was at Scorching Bay in Wellington. When we were reading some people would read out their questions and then people would try to answer them. These were some of my questions, Why does he need to be there by 8:00 am, Why does he need a number, How did his number stay on when he went under water and What is an Iron man race. Some of the questions I couldn't answer were why does he need a number, what is an Iron man race and how is he one of the fastest even though he was injured. I hope you like it and can answer my questions.

Be The Change- Bulling game

For Digi Awards I picked Digital Sandpit. We also had to learn about Be The Change. For Digital Sandpit I picked coding. I made a game about bullying, it is all about a little princess walking around when three dragons come up behind her and then they start bullying her. My game shows Be The Change because the knight has to save the princess from the dragon bully. When I was coding I learned how to move all of the characters and objects around.  The hardest thing was moving all of the blocks.

Rio Olympics

Usain Bolt Bar Graph

This is a bar graph that my reading group and the blue reading group did, the four animals and one human was Usain Bolt, Cheetah, Gray Fox, Brown Bear and African wild dog. It also tells us how fast Usain Bolt is and how much Olympics he has been in. Did you know that he can run a 100 metre sprint in 9.58 seconds and that he has got seven medals.

Test Print for 3D Printed Pen Holder

This is a picture of my Test Print, It has been 3D printed and it's my prototype. For my finishing product I am going to make a 3D printed pen holder because some people keep on losing their pens and pencils. It took me 15 minutes to test print this so I think that my 3D printed pen holder will take about 2 and a half hours. I hope that I get more views and some comments.

This a picture of me pretending to be ready for a match at the Olympics, the sport was table tennis because I don't know that much about table tennis and because it sounds like fun. You can tell that it is table tennis because I am holding a racket and a tennis ball.

Table tennis can also be known as ping pong, it’s a bit like tennis because you have rackets but they're a bit smaller, there’s a ball but it’s smaller, there’s a net but the net is on a table.

The aim: To hit the ball over the net and try to get a point

Two rules of the game: The playing area has to be rectangular, The playing surface should not include the vertical sides of the tabletop.

Olympics Day 3 Bonus Activity

If I was a reporter and I went to Rio de Janeiro I would want to report on the rugby sevens because It's one of my favorite sports and I would like to see the reactions of the players and the coaches. I would ask the players how does it feel to be in Rio de Janeiro and how do it feel to play for your country and represent it. Then I would ask the coaches how does it feel to be apart of this rugby sevens team and how does it feel to be in Rio de Janeiro. Then at the end of the interview, I would say " This is Cole reporting from Rio de Janeiro, Good Bye"

This is how excited I would be if I was in Rio de Janeiro talking to some rugby sevens players and talking to the coaches.

James and the giant peach Character Description

       James and his aunts

This is a piece of writing I wrote after I read the James and the giant peach story. It was written by Roald Dahl who I think is a really awesome author with heaps of amazing ideas. These are my ideas.

In the book James and the giant peach, there is a kind and lovely little boy called James. James had a amazing life until his parents passed away. Then James had to go live with his aunts in the south of England.

James is a kind and caring little boy with a huge personality. He is as sweet as all of the candy in a candy shop. He is sad because he is lonely and he doesn't have anyone to play with. He is also hard working because his aunts make him do all the work.

His aunts are lazy and cruel to James with a careless and negative personality. They are good for nothing brutes and they call James names like (you filthy nuisance or you miserable creature or you disgusting little beast). Aunt Sponge was as wide as a table and as small as a miniature box. She has small piggy eyes, a sunken mouth and one of those white flabby faces that looks like it had been boiled and turned into a boiled cabbage. On the other hand, Aunt Spiker was as skinny as a tooth pick. She wore steel rimmed spectacles. She had a screeching voice like a car drifting.

Overall I think that James and his aunts are way different because James has a positive personality and his aunts have a negative personality.

In the holidays the day after school finished I got to have a sleep in because I was playing my league game. It was at 11:30, the funny thing was when I said I could have a sleep in I didn’t I got up at  8:00 o’clock and watched tv for 1hr and thirty minutes, next I got some breakfast to get energised for my game, then me and mum left.

As soon as we left me and mum listened to some music on the radio but the music wasn’t that good. It took us about 10 minutes to get there because it is quite far away from my house but we still got there, when we got there I had to go over to my coach and get my uniform because the game before that I didn’t play and I didn’t have my uniform so that’s why I had to get it. After I got my uniform on I went and playing with Mikey, Japhia, Kyan and Levi with the ball just to warm up before the game so we were all ready but the whole team was gonna do a warm up anyway, after we played with the ball our coach Rosie called us all in so we could do our team warmup. When we started our team warm-up we had to run around a little building but we couldn’t run on the concrete because the concrete would of wrecked our sprigs, also for the warm-up we had to tackle the person and then go back to the line five times but on the fifth time they would kick it and someone had to pick it up, we would do about 6 sets of that. While we were doing our warm-up the referee pulled the two captains over for who receives and who kicks off, the captain from our team (Jeremiah) came over and told us that we would be kicking off and we would of been facing the sun. Finally we had to kick off, Jeremiah kicked off because he is the best kicker off the tee in our team. So he kicked off and there halfback Brooklyn caught the ball and passed it to one of the forwards which sprinted onto the ball and got through some people but then Japhia and Jeremiah tackled him, then the dummy half passed it to the halfback which passed to another forward  which ran through a gap and then passed it to Brooklyn and Brooklyn scored a try, plus getting the kick over. Then Jeremiah kicked it off again and Brooklyn caught it, passed it to this forward called Taylor and Taylor ran the ball and got through two people but Matthew, Kyra and Lasa tackled him, then the dummy half passed to Brooklyn and Brooklyn passed to another forward and that forward went through a gap but Kyan tackled him, then the dummy half passed to Brooklyn and Brooklyn scored another try, they also got the kick. After that Jeremiah had to kick off again but this time Brooklyn didn’t catch it the other half let it bounce in front of him and then it bounced up at him and he caught the ball and passed to someone called Deon which stepped heaps of people and he started to sprint but Matthew came so he passed it to Brooklyn and Brooklyn scored, then it was half time. After our break was over we got back on the field and they kicked off, when they kicked off I caught the ball and passed it to Adriano which sprinted on to the ball and Adriano got through a gap but got tackled. Next Kyra passed to Kyan and Kyan passed to Danny and Danny got through a gap but got tackled, then Kyra passed it to me and I passed it to someone and they ran and scored a try, then they got the kick over. Later they kicked off and Kyan caught the ball and ran it straight at someone, got through and then got tackled. Suddenly Kyra passed it to me and I passed to someone and they scored, by the way we got the kick, then the score was 18-12 to Riccarton. Finally they kicked off and I caught it, passed to Jeremiah which made heaps of meters but then got tackled, after Kyra passed to me and I passed to someone which made heaps of meters and scored a try, they let me kick and I got it over, then it was 18 all. Later they kicked off and I caught it passed to someone but that person knocked it on and Brooklyn picked it up and scored another try, luckily they missed the kick, Next the score was 22-18 to them. After that Jeremiah kicked off and the other half knocked it on and Matthew picked the ball up but got held up just at the line, then Kyra passed t me and I passed to someone and they scored, we also got the kick and stole the lead 24-22. Suddenly they kicked off and we scored straight away and won 30-22. The tackler of the day for our team was Kyan and the player of the day was Matthew.

On Monday Dad, Niko and I went to Riccarton to watch Hunt for the wilder people, the characters were Riki Baker, Uncle Hec, Aunty bella, Tupac the dog and Zag the dog. When we got to Riccarton we went up to the Hoyts place we had to go through the online queue or whatever it was called but we also got a large coke. Next we had to go to Pak N save to get some lollies and some chocolate, the chocolate was pineapple lumps and the lollies was a party pack like fruit bursts, minties, milk shakes and toffee lollies. When we got the lollies and that we went back up to where the games were but we sat down where you give the person your tickets and they rip off something and then they give them back to you, but my dad told us to sit down while he went to look at Rebel Sport, the time then was 11:05 and he got back at 11:25, the movie started at 11:30. When we walked into where our movie was we went to our seats and waited till the movie started, when the movie started we got some lollies each and some chocolate each, for my favorite part of the movie it would've been near the end when uncle Hec tried to surrender to the cops but Riki Baker said no and Riki Baker said “ if you take one more step I will shot you and uncle Hec took one more step so Riki Baker shot his arm and uncle Hec said “ why did you shoot me and Riki Baker said “ oh sorry you tried leaving me so I shot you”.

Overall my holidays were Fabulous because of all the things I got to do with my family and friends. My favorite thing was watching Hunt for the wilder people.
